Demultiplexers

  • It is a combinational circuit which routes one input to many of one output
  • It consist of selection lines, one input and many output lines
  • If output lines are 2n then ‘n’ selection lines are required.
  • It performs reverse operation of multiplexer.

4x1 de-mux:
This passes input D to one of output lines based on the selection line inputs. Below figure shows the logic diagram for 1x4 demultiplexer.

Equations for 1x4 Demultiplexer are
D0=DS1’S0
D1=DS1’S0
D2=DS1S0
D3=DS1S0
